As Managing Partner, Cassidy Dang Buckland is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the firm. Mrs. Buckland practices in both state and federal courts in the areas of complex and commercial litigation, nursing home and premises liability, products liability, professional liability, automobile liability, medical and healthcare malpractice, catastrophic and personal injury, wrongful death, intentional torts, first and third-party property insurance claims, bad faith claims, foreclosure defense, loan modifications, family law, and criminal defense.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. After college, Mrs. Buckland earned her Juris Doctor degree from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.
Prior to joining Buckland & Dang, P.A., Mrs. Buckland was a Senior Supervising Associate and Associate for two statewide insurance defense firms, where she practiced in the areas of complex and commercial litigation, nursing home and premises liability, products liability, professional liability, medical and healthcare malpractice, catastrophic and personal injury, wrongful death, class actions, and toxic and hazardous substances. Mrs. Buckland took the lead on two high-exposure cases involving a quadriplegic and methane asphyxiation, where the former was a $24 million dollar case which settled for $3.1 million dollars. She also assisted in the defense of a pet food retail chain in a major putative class action by consumers of commercial pet food against multiple commercial pet food manufacturers and retailers for violating the deceptive and unfair trade practices acts, false advertising statutes, and common law claims of strict liability, negligent misrepresentation, fraud, breach of warranty, and unjust enrichment.
Mrs. Buckland was also an Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. At the State Attorney’s Office, Mrs. Buckland prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases and gained extensive courtroom and invaluable trial experience.
Before she was a prosecutor, Mrs. Buckland was an Associate for the largest national class action firm in the United States, where her practice was devoted to prosecuting complex class actions involving securities fraud, antitrust violations and consumer fraud. During that time, Mrs. Buckland conceived and was the originating attorney for a potential class action against three major U.S. banks for, among other things, breach of contract and unjust enrichment. She was also the originating attorney for a complex commercial litigation against a major Guyanese telecommunications company for, among other things, breach of contract and tortious interference.
Mrs. Buckland is a member of The Florida Bar and licensed to practice law in all of the state courts of Florida. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She is also Certified in Aquatic Law.
